Giving something back to people and communities

European Roma Rights Centre (ERRC)

If you have travelled extensively in central Europe and the Balkans, you will surely have come across the Romani people. ERRC is a Budapest-based organisation that campaigns for Roma rights. ERRC documents abuses of Romani people, and uses strategic litigation and international advocacy to better the position of Europe's Romani communities.

JRS Europe

An antidote to xenophobia and intolerant nationalism, JRS Europe provides much needed support for migrants from outside Europe who arrive in the EU. JRS also challenges governments and EU citizens to provide a more tolerant and respectful environment for those who are “foreigners in a foreign land” and who are waiting for our understanding and acceptance. JRS stands for Jesuit Refugee Service.

La Strada International

Probe beneath the surface of some communities in eastern and central Europe, and you will encounter appalling tales of the trafficking of women and even children. This is a terrible violation of fundamental human rights. La Strada International is the hub of a network of agencies committed to exposing and combatting human trafficking.

Slow Travel Europe

The anticipation of arrival all too often undermines the pleasure of the journey as we make haste to get to this or that resort, conference or meeting. But it need not be so. We have slow food, slow cities and now is the time for more attention to slow travel. So hidden europe decided to launch a new website dedicated to slow travel in Europe.
