Pen to Paper

Slow, slow wanders the train, past minarets and mosques, out onto the plains where women dressed in black work in fields that are as neat as a grave on the day of its digging.

On good days, Sylt is a lithesome figure that dances on the edge of the North Sea. A sort of nymph that guards access to Jutland behind. On dull days, Sylt just lies sullen, shrouded in charcoal cloud, and the lazy waves leave their murky flotsam on the beach

The tides in the Mawddach estuary never come too early. Nor too late. The rain never beats too hard on the road to Abergwesyn. In the patter of the rain there are voices. Voices of the drovers who for generations trod these trails urging their sheep to market.

Let me try and give you a flavour of what I have been up to over the past year. Last year, 2008, my total published output was about 150,000 words. The preceding year was pretty similar. Different words, of couse. But about the same number. Most of that text was published in magazines, but a small amount was purposely written for online publication.

All those words. You’ll find lots of them in hidden europe magazine. And at various times during 2008, some of those words have been published in E!Sharp, The Lady, My Weekly, CityGuide, Zazpi Ka, Zazpi Haizetara, and more besides. Here is a selection.
